Mission of the Edgewood Police Department:
The Edgewood Police Department strives to provide the highest quality police service, which requires citizen involvement to identify and help solve problems within the community. The Edgewood Police Department provides professional, knowledgeable, and focused law enforcement services to ensure the safety and well-being of all people, while promoting individual responsibility and community commitment. Our officers work with compassion and respect as we assist crime victims and form partnerships to organize strategies which reduce crime, the fear of crime and improve the quality of life. As we work toward these goals, we do so remembering: our greatest asset is our personnel; our greatest strength is our partnership with the community.

Since 1930, the Edgewood Community has benefitted from having an organized volunteer fire department. The volunteer group is dedicated to saving the lives and property of the citizens of Edgewood and surrounding areas by responding quickly when called. The department provides a high quality of fire protection, rescue and training as the firemen are a well trained team qualified to administer first aid and have attended fire-fighting schools.
Funding of the department is through the City of Edgewood, Van Zandt County, grants, annual fundraisers and donations. Their main fundraiser is a chili supper, offered in February at the Fire Hall.
Weekly meetings on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at the department.
